Idea:
Women see themselves as “social” by nature, they claim to have better communication skills than men do – and mostly they are right. They even hold the majority in all big social networks except LinkedIn. But when it comes to using Social Media for marketing themselves for business, they fail. While men boast proudly about their achievements in status updates women write birthday wishes to others and ask for private advice. What’s the reason behind that phenomenon?
Questions answered:
- Which are the Social Networks women are most actively taking part in?
- How does the women’s way of Social Media usage differ from the men’s?
- What are the motivations for Social Networking?
- Why do men use Social Networks more sucessfully for business?
- What can women do to better show off – without feeling embarressed?
Perspective:
From my master in Communication Studies as well as from my experience as a journalist I never rely on easy thruths but dig into statistics and interview all stakeholders before coming to a decision. As I write about Social Media in the US as well as in Europe I can combine the German perspective with an international one.
